Civic education (citizenship education) have an important role in the life of the nation. According
to William Galston, a definition of citizenship education is and demi_

Based on the above, citizenship education in Indonesia is also important in supporting the goals berkontiribusi Indonesian state. Systematic civic education is within the framework of realizing the function and purpose of national education based on Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution NRI related and civic education go hand in hand with development assistance nationhood and statehood. Civic education is an integral part of the idea, instrumentation, and practical life of society, nation and state of Indonesia (Winataputra Udin, 2008). Even say, our national education is essentially a civic education so that citizens of Indonesia are born of good quality in social and national discipline, the work ethic, the productivity of labor, the intellectual and professional skills, social responsibility, nationality, humanity, and the moral, character and personality (Soedijarto, 2008).
Civic education anywhere basically aims to establish a good citizen (good citizen) (Somantri, 2001; Aziz Wahab, 2007; Kalidjernih, 2010). But the concept of "good citizens" of different and often change with the development of the nation in question. In the context of national education goals today, good citizens who gayut with civic education is a democratic citizen responsibility (Article 3) and the citizens who have the spirit of nationalism and patriotism (article 37 of Law No. 20 of 2003) . It can be concluded that the purpose of civic education in Indonesia is a citizen of a democratic form responsible, has a spirit of nationalism and patriotism.
Civic education is a field that cross scientific (Winataputra Udin, 2001) or a multi-disciplinary field (Sapriya, 2007). As a multidimensional fields, civic education can load a number of functions, among others: the political education, legal education and educational value (Somantri Numan, 2001), education, democracy (Winataputra Udin, 2001), education, values, education, democracy, and education Pancasila moral education (Suwarma, 2006), political education, national and state laws of the state of the Republic and the moral education of Pancasila and the Constitution of the Republic and citizenship education (citizenship education) and the Republic of Indonesia as the country of citizenship education (civic education) Homeland (Kosasih Djahiri, 2007), and as democratic education, character education nation, education and moral values, to defend the state of education, political education, and legal education (Sapriya, 2007). In addition to containing a variety of functions, civic education has 3 domains / dimensions or the region as a curricular programs, social programs and the academic program (Winataputra Udin, 2001; Sapriya, 2007). Citizenship education as a curricular program is carried out civic education in school or education program that includes intra-, and extra-curricular co. As the program curriculum in particular intra-curricular, civic education can be realized as a stand-alone lesson (separated) or integrated with other subjects (integratied). As a social program is a civic education that is run by and for the community. Citizenship education as an academic program is the scientific activities conducted community to enrich the body of knowledge PKN itself.
