Air Transportation System

Transportation sustains economic and social activity and is central to operations research and management science. When operations research emerged as a structured field during World War II, some of the first problems investigated arose from the need to optimize military logistics and transportation activities. After the war ended, the scope of operations research applications broadened but transportation problems always occupied a central place. It is now widely recognized that some of the most successful applications of operations research are encountered in transportation, most significantly in the airline industry where it underlies almost every aspect of strategic, tactical, and operational planning. This success story may be explained by a number of factors, the first being the economic importance of transportation. Also, the complexity and large scale of transportation problems call for powerful analytical techniques, and the high volumes involved imply that substantial savings can often be achieved through the use of optimization. Furthermore, transportation problems are highly structured, making them amenable to the use of efficient solution methods based on network optimization techniques and mathematical programming. This book contains eleven chapters describing some of the most recent methodological operations research developments in transportation. It is structured around the main transportation modes, and each chapter is written by a group of well-recognized researchers. Because of the major impact of operations research methods in the field of air transportation over the past forty years, it is befitting to open the book with a chapter on airline operations management. While many past publications have focused on airline strategic and tactical planning, Ball, Barnhart, Nemhauser, and Odoni have chosen to address the organization and control of recovery operations in the event of disturbances. This line of research is relatively new and of major importance to the airline industry. The second chapter, by Desaulniers and Hickman, surveys the planning of public transit operations. The problems addressed and the methods employed in transit planning, for example, those arising in network design, passenger assignment, scheduling, and fleet and crew assignment, are often similar to those of the airlines. The railway optimization chapter, by Caprara, Kroon, Monaci, Peeters, and Toth, covers the realm of planning problems encountered in railway planning, with an emphasis on European passenger railways. Again, several of these issues are similar to those observed in other modes, but some problems are specific to the railway industry, such as train platforming, rolling stock circulation, and train unit shunting. The fourth chapter, by Christiansen, Fagerholt, Nygreen, and Ronen, contains an extensive
survey of maritime transportation problems, methods, and applications. Compared with other modes, maritime transportation has received relatively little attention from operations researchers. Yet this field is rapidly expanding with the consolidation of major shipping companies and the development of large container ports. The next three chapters cover a variety of planning problems arising in vehicle fleet management. The chapter by Powell, Bouzaïene-Ayari, and Simão addresses truck transportation planning in contexts where information processes are dynamic. The focus is on the development of models that capture the flow of information and decisions. The vehicle routing chapter, by Cordeau, Laporte, Savelsbergh, and Vigo, concerns what is arguably the most central problem in distribution management. It surveys several families of vehicle routing problems, including classical models, inventory routing, and stochastic routing. In the transportation on demand chapter, Cordeau, Laporte, Potvin, and Savelsbergh consider the planning of pickup and delivery operations made at the request of users, such as those encountered in courier services, dial-a-ride operations, dial-a-flight systems, and ambulance fleet deployment. The eighth chapter, by Crainic and Kim, is devoted to intermodal transportation and ties in some planning issues encountered in railway, maritime, and trucking operations. This chapter describes methodologies relevant to the solution of system design and operations planning problems from the perspective of a carrier, or from that of an intermodal transfer facility operator. It also addresses problems encountered at the regional or national level. The next chapter, by Erkut, Tjandra, and Verter, concerns the transportation of hazardous materials and includes a broad description of the issues encountered in this field, as well as methodological contributions on risk assessment, routing and scheduling, and facility location. The last two chapters of the book cover the area of automobile transportation. Marcotte and Patriksson first survey the broad field of traffic equilibrium. Their chapter contains a rich account of the main equilibrium concepts, as well as subproblems and mathematical algorithms encountered in this area. This chapter provides an informative bibliographical note at the end of each section. Finally, in the last chapter, Papageorgiou, Ben-Akiva, Bottom, Bovy, Hoogendoorn, Hounsell, Kotsialos, and McDonald summarize some of the most important issues and recent developments encountered in ITS and traffic management. These include traffic flow models, route guidance and information systems, as well as urban and highway traffic control. We are confident that this book will prove useful to researchers, students, and practitioners in transportation, and we hope it will stimulate further research in this rich and fascinating area. We are grateful to Jan Karel Lenstra and George L. Nemhauser who invited us to edit this volume. While the process took longer than we had expected, we found the experience highly rewarding. Our deep thanks go to all authors for the quality of their contriPreface butions, to the anonymous referees for their time, effort, and valuable suggestions, and to GerardWanrooy of Elsevier for his support.

Citizenship Education

Civic education (citizenship education) have an important role in the life of the nation. According to William Galston, a definition of citizenship education is and demi_ pendidikan_di the existing political order (Felix baghi, 2009). Civic education is a form pengemblengan individuals to support and strengthen communities throughout the political community's politics is a result of the deal. Civic education of a country will always be influenced by the values and goals of education (educational values and aims) as the main structural factors (David Kerr, 1999). Civic education is not solely membelajarkan facts about institutions and procedures but also as a matter of political life and identity of a nation's identity (Kymlicka, 2001).
Based on the above, citizenship education in Indonesia is also important in supporting the goals berkontiribusi Indonesian state. Systematic civic education is within the framework of realizing the function and purpose of national education based on Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution NRI related and civic education go hand in hand with development assistance nationhood and statehood. Civic education is an integral part of the idea, instrumentation, and practical life of society, nation and state of Indonesia (Winataputra Udin, 2008). Even say, our national education is essentially a civic education so that citizens of Indonesia are born of good quality in social and national discipline, the work ethic, the productivity of labor, the intellectual and professional skills, social responsibility, nationality, humanity, and the moral, character and personality (Soedijarto, 2008).
Civic education anywhere basically aims to establish a good citizen (good citizen) (Somantri, 2001; Aziz Wahab, 2007; Kalidjernih, 2010). But the concept of "good citizens" of different and often change with the development of the nation in question. In the context of national education goals today, good citizens who gayut with civic education is a democratic citizen responsibility (Article 3) and the citizens who have the spirit of nationalism and patriotism (article 37 of Law No. 20 of 2003) . It can be concluded that the purpose of civic education in Indonesia is a citizen of a democratic form responsible, has a spirit of nationalism and patriotism.
Civic education is a field that cross scientific (Winataputra Udin, 2001) or a multi-disciplinary field (Sapriya, 2007). As a multidimensional fields, civic education can load a number of functions, among others: the political education, legal education and educational value (Somantri Numan, 2001), education, democracy (Winataputra Udin, 2001), education, values, education, democracy, and education Pancasila moral education (Suwarma, 2006), political education, national and state laws of the state of the Republic and the moral education of Pancasila and the Constitution of the Republic and citizenship education (citizenship education) and the Republic of Indonesia as the country of citizenship education (civic education) Homeland (Kosasih Djahiri, 2007), and as democratic education, character education nation, education and moral values, to defend the state of education, political education, and legal education (Sapriya, 2007). Different functions are in line with the characteristics of "good citizens" to be realized.
In addition to containing a variety of functions, civic education has 3 domains / dimensions or the region as a curricular programs, social programs and the academic program (Winataputra Udin, 2001; Sapriya, 2007). Citizenship education as a curricular program is carried out civic education in school or education program that includes intra-, and extra-curricular co. As the program curriculum in particular intra-curricular, civic education can be realized as a stand-alone lesson (separated) or integrated with other subjects (integratied). As a social program is a civic education that is run by and for the community. Citizenship education as an academic program is the scientific activities conducted community to enrich the body of knowledge PKN itself.

Mechanics of materials

Mechanics of Materials Science and Engineering is part of the civil laws of physics that studies about the behavior of a material when loaded, especially the problem of the forces that occur in these materials and their derivatives.Definitions Voltage is the force per unit area, where the style is meant here is the styles, the style of which occurred within a material due to the resistance of materials to compensate for external forces. Generally, the force acting on the broad infinitely small on a piece, will consist of an assortment of magnitude and direction. In Mechanics of materials, the intensity of the forces should be determined dalarn in various parts of the piece, as the resistance of the deformation, while the ability of materials to withstand the force is dependent on the intensity of this.In general, the intensity of this style is trending oblique to the field pieces. Usually in the calculation of the intensity of the force is decomposed into perpendicular and parallel pieces. The intensity of the perpendicular style called Normal Tension (Normal Stress) is denoted by s (read: Sigma). Meanwhile, the other stress components parallel to the field pieces called Voltage Slide (Shearing Stress) and is denoted by t (read: Tau).In addition to the above stresses known also what is called Voltage Bending, arising due to bending moment (Bending Moment).Normal voltage. An axial forces pose an equal pull on the rod, because it is said to Pull rods (Tension). P works on the right end of the rod. At the left end of the working styles of action. These forces are continuously distributed throughout the cross section of the trunk and called Normal Tension (σn). Normal voltage is defined by:Flexural stress (σl).Bending stress due to moment arising from the force and external load.Voltage combination.Combined voltage is the voltage that occurs due to the normal force and moment yan style or expense arising from outside. In these conditions the resultant stresses that work can be obtained by downloading the voltage superposisikan normal stresses that occur are caused by axial force (P) and bending moment (M).Voltage Slide.Transverse force perpendicular D work pieces. Styles that work in the field of cuts will be distributed evenly across the cross section of the rod, and is called the Voltage Slide (τ).τ = DS / bIWhere:D = style latitudes.S = static moment of pieces that were reviewed.b = width of pieces that were reviewed.I = Inertia pieces.

Calculus

Calculus is the mathematical study of change,in the same way that geometry is the study of shape and algebra is the study of operations and their application to solving equations. It has two major branches, differential calculus (concerning rates of change and slopes of curves), and integral calculus (concerning accumulation of quantities and the areas under curves); these two branches are related to each other by the fundamental theorem of calculus. Both branches make use of the fundamental notions of convergence of infinite sequences and infinite series to a well-defined limit. Calculus has widespread uses in science, economics, and engineering and can solve many problems that algebra alone cannot.
This subject is a major part of modern mathematics education. A course in calculus is a gateway to other, more advanced courses in mathematics devoted to the study of functions and limits, broadly called mathematical analysis.
Calculus has historically been called "the calculus of infinitesimals", or "infinitesimal calculus". The word "calculus" comes from Latin (calculus) and means a small stone used for counting. More generally, calculus (plural calculi) refers to any method or system of calculation guided by the symbolic manipulation of expressions. Some examples of other well-known calculi are propositional calculus, calculus of variations, lambda calculus, and process calculus.

Free Download GMail Drive 1.0.19

GMail Drive creates a virtual filesystem around your Google Mail account, allowing you to use Gmail as a storage medium.
GMail Drive creates a virtual filesystem on top of your Google Gmail account and enables you to save and retrieve files stored on your Gmail account directly from inside Windows Explorer. GMail Drive literally adds a new drive to your computer under the My Computer folder, where you can create new folders, copy and drag'n'drop files to it.
Ever since Google started to offer users a Gmail e-mail account, which includes storage space of 6000 megabytes, you have had plenty of storage space but not a lot to fill it up with. With GMail Drive you can easily copy files to your Google Mail Account and retrieve them again.
When you create a new file using GMail Drive, it generates an e-mail and posts it to your account. The e-mail appears in your normal Inbox folder, and the file is attached as an e-mail attachment. GMail Drive periodically checks your mail account (using the Gmail search function) to see if new files have arrived and to rebuild the directory structures. But basically GMail Drive acts as any other hard-drive installed on your computer.

How to Find Your House on Google Earth

Space. The final frontier. That's where you start, anyway, when you launch Google Earth. You can see the whole world shining in the night sky. You see the topography of the continents and the oceans, and only a suggestion of geopolitical boundaries.
But who cares about that! What you really want to do is see your house from here! How do you get there? Hop aboard the wikiHow tourbus and we'll show you what the birds see!

Steps

Download Google Earth

  1. First things first. Before you can see your house from birdland, you'll need to make sure you have Google Earth downloaded and installed. You can find it in Google Products at http://www.google.com/intl/en/about/products/index.html, under the Geo section:

    Ayo pakai Gmail

Gmail Cerdas, Praktis dan Asyik Dipakai. Cobalah, Mudah dan Gratis!
    Mail.Google.com
    • Follow the installation instructions, and when done, locate Google Earth and launch it.
  2. Find your home. With Google Earth running, it's time for the fun stuff. Hang on!

The easy way

  1. Enter your address. In the top left corner, toggle open Search if it's not already open. When it is, you will see three buttons: Fly To, Find Business, and Directions. Click on Fly To.

    • Enter in your street address, and click the magnifying glass. Google Earth will rotate (more, or less depending on the state or country you've entered), and zoom in pretty quickly to your neighborhood as seen from a few thousand feet. There will be a gray crosshair over your house, next to your address.

  2. Zoom in closer. This is nice, but still a long way from what you want to see. Double click just outside of the gray crosshairs, and let's get closer.
    • Each double click brings you about halfway between where you were, and the ground.
    • Continue clicking until you are very close. That's usually about three double-clicks.

    • As you can see, it's a little blurry now. That's because the cameras that shoot the tops of houses are several miles up. They do a remarkable job despite that, but you were probably hoping for more.
  3. Move your cursor to the right side of the page. A set of controls will appear—–two virtual joysticks, one with a hand and one with an eye, and if Google has mapped your neighborhood, an orange human icon. Drag the icon to your house and release it. You will be placed on the ground, on your street!

  4. Look around. You can pan around, looking at your neighborhood—–you can even click on the street and "walk" along the road, anywhere Google has mapped!

Let your clicking do the walking

  1. Check out the controls. In the upper left of the Google Earth window, you'll see a set of controls. Use this guide:

  2. Find your country. If North America is not your home continent, rotate the earth by using the Rotate Joystick tool.
    • Click the left arrow to rotate towards Asia, the right arrow to rotate towards Europe, the up arrow to head to the North Pole, and the down arrow should you live in Antarctica.
    • Alternately, you can just click and drag Earth in the direction you wish to go.
  3. Go to Paris, France for a trial. Rotate the Earth to the east (assuming a North American starting point). Using the joystick arrow as described, rotate the Earth to the east until France comes into view. If it's not in the center of the screen, use the joystick arrows to move it up or down towards the center. Use the outer ring of the Pan Joystick tool to rotate France into the proper position.
    • When it's about centered on your screen, double-click on it.

    • With the first double click, France is in the center of your screen, and you'll see the capital cities of Europe. In the north of France, you'll see Paris. Double-click Paris. After a quick and dizzying journey, you'll zoom from many miles above earth to around 2,000 feet (600 meters).
    • Press the up arrow on the Pan Joystick, and the landscape of France will open up in front of you. It's as if you were looking straight down, and now you're lifting your head up. When you are looking out across the land instead of down on it, Use the outer ring of the Pan Joystick, and move the N icon to be due south. You'll now be looking at the city.
    • Use the Zoom controls to zoom in. When you find a neighborhood to explore, click on the orange person icon, and place it to enter Street View.
  4. Take a hike. Now that you're in Street View, you can use the arrow keys on your keyboard to "walk" the streets of Paris. Or your home town. Or virtually any place in the world.

Extra fun

  1. Look at the sun. When you're not in street view, from the View menu, select "Sun".

    • If it's nighttime where you are, you won't see much. But rotate the Earth to where it's sunny, and you'll see the terminator—–no, not Arnold, but the place where day meets night. It's presented in real time, so you can watch the progression as people to the east of the terminator slip into darkness.
  2. Look at the moon. Why confine your explorations to Earth? From the View/Explore menu, select Moon.

    • Visit where the Eagle landed, and the other Apollo missions, plus much more. And yes, in case you're wondering, there's a Street View there, too!
  3. Don't stop there! Explore the craters on Mars, or Messier objects in space. While there is no street view at NGC5458—–even Google has limits—–it's still space... the final frontier.
  4. Engage!
